Court documents: Mizzou basketball prospect charged with rape during recruiting visit
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KCTV) - A Missouri basketball recruit is in custody on charges of rape following a recruiting visit in September 2024.
Keiner Asprilla faces three felony charges following an alleged incident at a hotel in Columbia, Missouri. Asprilla was on an official visit to Mizzou at the time of the alleged crime.
According to court records in Boone County, Asprilla has been charged with felony first-degree rape, felony first-degree sodomy and felony second-degree kidnapping.
The 7-foot center from Jersey City, New Jersey, is a four-star recruit and the 50th overall recruit in the Class of 2026 recruiting rankings according to 247 Sports.
Court documents say Asprilla “is a danger to the public,” and that he met the victim out in public before forcibly raping and sodomizing her. The documents claim he told other people to leave the room and threw the victim’s phone across the room so she could not get help. The incident happened on Sept. 22, 2024, according to court records.

Prosecuting attorney Risa Perkins wrote in a document filed on April 29 that Asprilla is “unlikely to appear on a summons as he is from Colombia and has an immigration hold.”
“The state does not believe that there are any conditions of bond that would ensure the community is safe and that the defendant appears in court,” Perkins wrote.
Asprilla held scholarship offers from several other universities, but only took an official visit to Mizzou, according to 247 Sports.
He is currently in custody and being held without bond in the Boone County Jail.
