MERRIAM, Kan. (KCTV) - On May 7th, the Merriam city planning commission approved rezoning for the next phase of Merriam Grand Station.

The $102 million mixed-use development project called Grand Station Marketplace at 62nd Street just north of Shawnee Mission Parkway, where the former Antioch Library sits.

It includes more than 200 apartment units, 12,500 square feet of retail space, and a grocery store.

In 2022, luxury apartments and several new restaurants were approved and built at the site of Merriam’s former K-Mart in the same area near Ikea.

Although Merriam’s Planning Commission could not approve financial incentives for the developer, those are on the table for the Merriam City Council’s consideration.
