Claire Decatur

I'm Claire Decatur from Olathe, KS. I'm excited to tell stories in Northeast Kansas!

I have two younger sisters who are my best friends. I played golf at Olathe North High School for all four years. I started as my high school's newspaper photo editor and slowly fell in love with broadcast news after joining their broadcast club.

I attended the University of Kansas, where I earned my B.A. in Journalism. The first show I did at KU was a sports show called Playmakers. I later anchored and reported for KUJH where I switched over to local news. Fun fact: I attended Kansas State the first semester of my freshman year before transferring to KU!

I started as an intern at WIBW in 2023 and joined full-time after graduating in May 2024! Since joining WIBW, I've loved getting to know Topeka and the wonderful people that come with it.

When I'm not working, I'm with family or friends playing card games, or trying out new restaurants. My favorite hobbies include reading my Bible at local coffee shops or taking long walks with my puppy Kylo! To say I'm a Jayhawks fan is an understatement, I love KU. Rock Chalk!!
