Royals star Salvador Perez is a hit at KCK backyard wiffle ball game
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Salvador Perez helped put smiles on the faces of a group of Kansas City, Kan. kids while giving them some unexpected fun.
The Royals had a day off Thursday and Salvy ended up in the Piper area of Kansas City, Kan.
A group of kids happened to be outside playing whiffle ball. One of the children’s mothers said Salvy stopped his car, walked up to the kids, and asked if he could play.
She said the kids didn’t recognize Salvy at first, but then couldn’t believe their luck.

Video shared by Lesley Lard on social media shows Salvy at the plate with a bat. He hit a foul ball in his plate appearance. Salvy didn’t give up. His next hit got him around the bases and jogging into home -- laughing the entire way.
The kids (and their parents) knew they needed proof of the neighborhood star sighting. They made sure to snap some pictures of Salvy, including one with the kids.
Salvy and the Royals will be back at Kauffman Stadium Friday evening for a three-game homestand against the Philadelphia Phillies.
