KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Ned is back!

The winningest manager in Kansas City Royals history (746 wins) is returning to the club as senior advisor to general manager J.J. Picollo.

“My deep love for the Royals, for Kansas City, and for the people there never left,” Yost said in a release. “So I just want to help, because I know I can help. I know what it takes to build a world championship club, and I think we’re getting close. I think we’re getting really close.”

Yost retired following the 2019 baseball season and was inducted into the Royals Hall of Fame in 2023.

He joined the Royals in May 13, 2010, and led them to consecutive World Series appearances in 2014 and 2015, culminating in the club’s first World Series championship in 30 years.

“Our fans remember Ned’s leadership helping produce some of the best moments in Royals history,” Picollo said in a release. “He knows what winning a World Series here takes because he’s helped make it happen, and his experience both as a leader and with young players will help us make better decisions and keep pushing toward another championship.”
