Funeral plans announced for fallen Kansas City firefighter Kyle Brinker

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Final arrangements honoring a fallen Kansas City firefighter will be held this week.

Visitation for 33-year-old Kyle Brinker will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 25. The gathering will take place at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Liberty from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m.

A celebration of life will be held at the same location on Sept. 25, as well. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. The funeral is open to the public.

Brinker died Tuesday afternoon after suffering a medical emergency during a training exercise.

According to an obituary, Brinker loved BBQ and made an amazing brisket. It also said he loved to travel with his wife of five years.

He leaves behind his wife, dog, parents and a brother, who is also a member of the Kansas City Fire Department.

The family suggests memorials being made to the Surviving Spouse and Family Endowment Fund, also known as SAFE.

The organization provides financial support to the families of fallen emergency responders.

SAFE said it plans to give Brinker’s widow a $40,000 check to cover any financial needs the family may have at this time.
