UTV riders rescued from flash flood south of Pleasant Hill
PLEASANT HILL, Mo. (KCTV) - Four UTV riders were rescued from a flash flood south of Pleasant Hill, Mo., on the Fourth of July.
The Cass County, Missouri, Sheriff’s Office says that just before 9:10 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, emergency crews were called to the area of Purvis Rd. and 203rd St. south of Pleasant Hill with reports of four individuals trapped in flood waters.
When first responders arrived, they said they found a UTV with four riders had been trapped in a flash flood about a half mile from the nearest access point. They had been there for nearly two hours. The Disaster Emergency Response Team was called for a water rescue operation.
The Sheriff’s Office indicated that a rescue boat was used to save the riders. By 10:45 p.m., first responders had reunited all four individuals with their loved ones.
The Sheriff’s Office thanked the Pleasant Hill Police Department, Pleasant Hill Fire Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol for their help during the effort. No further information has been released.
