Historic Independence mansion makes silver screen
INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (KCTV) - There’s a lot more going on at Independence’s famed Vaile Mansion than the usual tours.
Overnights Friday, May 10, and, Saturday, May 11 a Kansas City film crew converged on the property for a film shoot.
Vaile Mansion: Fact or Fiction?
According to Charlie Beck, tour guide and Vaile Victorian Society board member, crews descended on the grounds to film a movie, called “The Live In”.
Vaile Mansion Board President, Sandy Dourghty said 68 men and women were part of the filming, and with them came two porta potties to help keep the historic mansion in “good working order”.
There’s no word yet on when or where the film will debut.
The stately mansion was built by Colonel and Mrs. Harvey Vaile in 1881 and sits a mile north of the historic Independence Square.
Vaile Mansion is open for tours Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Sunday from 1 - 4 p.m. Check for special hours on holidays.
