KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - KCTV5 is proudly celebrating 70 years of broadcast excellence. Seven decades of delivering news, entertainment, and community service to the heart of the Midwest. Founded as an FM radio station: KCMO became a television station in 1953, then changed the call letters to KCTV in 1983.

Through the decades, kctv5 has grown into a staple of local television, adapting to technological advancements and changing viewer preferences. An evolution that news reporter and anchor Amy Anderson played a role in for 18 years.

Anderson joined the news team at kctv5 in 2003, becoming a trusted and beloved source of information during pivotal moments in our history.... reaffirming our commitment to being the eyes and ears to our viewers in Kansas City. You can still hear Anderson on the airwaves in K-C, on the morning drive radio on KMBZ.

Though, she has fond memories of her days in front of a camera. Anderson says “This place was my family and a home away from home and and I was never unhappy to walk through the doors here. It was always a good place to come to work. And I always felt so lucky to be here.”

As KCTV5 looks ahead to the next chapter, we remain committed to innovation and excellence. Our goal is to continue delivering the quality programming, community service and local-live news coverage that you’ve come to expect.
