KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) - Kansas City, Kansas Police now have another tool in their crime-fighting arsenal. It’s a new technology that allows them to gather crime videos and vital information as it happens.

It’s called the Real-Time Intelligence Crime Center (RTICC). Before this system, detectives had to piece together information and leads from several systems. Now, this system allows them to streamline information making for much faster and more effective crime-fighting.

KCKPD calls RTICC a state-of-the-art intelligence in real-time action. The system provides access to video feeds and essential data as the incident takes place.

When a crime is in motion, analysts can immediately pull up footage from surveillance and traffic cameras in the vicinity and relay that directly to police with boots on the ground.

”Our gunshot detection is also going to have cameras attached, so when the gunshot goes off, we’ll see what the camera saw before the gunshot.  So, this is a game-changer for us and our community,” said Chief Karl Oakman.

The technology also tracks a suspect vehicle and documents video evidence allowing detectives to locate suspects within hours instead of days.

This advanced tech is only used in 150 agencies nationwide and now the KCK Police Department is one such agency.
