Independence School bus driver charged with child sex crimes

A bus driver for the Independence School District employee is charged with six counts related to child sex crimes and pornography.

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (KCTV) - A bus driver for the Independence School District employee is charged with six counts related to child sex crimes and pornography.

Oak Grove police arrested Christopher Omenski on May 6, weeks after receiving a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The tip pointed detectives to Omenski after video containing child pornography was uploaded to an account linked to him court documents show.

The graphic video showed an adult man sexually abusing a young girl according to a probable cause statement.

Detectives interviewed Omenski who eventually admitted to possessing the pornography. The probable cause statement also shows Omenski admitted to detectives that he had sexual intercourse with a young girl.

The Independence School District placed Omenski on administrative leave and notified families of the investigation Wednesday.

The district said there is no current evidence that any Independence students are involved in the allegations. The district also said there is no evidence that any of the crimes took place in Independence.

Omenski is in custody and held without bond, according to online court records.
