Former KCK detective found dead in home, accusers are now demanding answers
TOPEKA, Kan. (KCTV) - A high-profile case takes a shocking turn after disgraced former KCK detective, Roger Golubski was found dead at his home, the morning that his first trial was set to begin.
Protesters and alleged victims came by bus to stand out in front of the Federal Court House in Topeka with signs, chanting, and giving speeches. Many were hoping that this would be the beginning of justice finally being served, instead, they found out the trial would never happen.

One protester, Madella Henderson said she had a violent encounter with Golubski back in 1974, where he put a gun to her head, and said she has been waiting for this moment, for decades.
“Throughout all these years these people need justice, some of us are not here today because of this. he has been a monster, taken away families, taken parents away from their children,” said Henderson.
Golubski was set to appear for the first day of a federal trial for alleged civil rights violations against two women. That was supposed to begin at 9 a.m. Monday morning, but when his attorneys came in, Golubski was not with them.
His attorney said that Golubski told him he was despondent over the media attention the trial was getting.
The judge then issued a warrant for his arrest and expected him to be brought to court.
A couple of hours later, the court reconvened and at that moment attorneys confirmed that Golubski had died and a motion was granted to dismiss the case.
KCTV5 spoke with the attorney representing Lamonte McIntyre outside the courthouse. He’s the man who was wrongfully convicted of murder and blamed Golubski for setting him up.
His attorney, Cheryl Pilate said she was shocked and overwhelmed by the news.

“Initial questions that spring to mind; did anyone see this coming? How closely was he being monitored other than his attorneys, who last had contact with him?” said Pilate, “I think there needs to be a thorough review of his phone records, who was coming and going from his house?”
Pilate said she believes there needs to be a complete, thorough independent inquiry into all the circumstances surrounding the death of Golubski.
“It’s really important in circumstances like this for there to be a complete and thorough and independent investigation on everything and that would include an independent autopsy, a thorough investigation of the scene, preservation of all potential relevant evidence, complete video tape, and photographing of the scene, and treat this like the very serious occurrence that it is,” said Pilate.
