KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Jackson County is keeping its Assessment, Collection and Recorder of Deeds offices closed for the remainder of the week as the County continues its efforts into investigating a ransomware attack.

The attack disrupted multiple county services Tuesday morning and prompted a State of Emergency from Jackson County Executive Frank White Jr.

“There is an urgent need to reinstate the county’s core functions to minimize inconvenience for residents,” said White Jr. “We are actively exploring every avenue to ensure our residents are not negatively impacted by the closures.”

Jackson County maintained that Tuesday’s ransomware attack did not provide attackers with taxpayers’ personal and sensitive financial information and said the data is hosted completely outside of the county’s network.

“Due to the sensitivity of this security breach, the County’s capacity to disclose information is limited,” White’s office said in a release Wednesday afternoon.
