2nd grader accidentally orders over 70,000 Dum-Dums
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT/Gray News) – A Kentucky mom was in for a surprise when she found 70,000 Dum-Dum suckers on her doorstep that her young son had ordered in secret.
Holly LaFavers, from Lexington, shared on Facebook that her son Liam, who is in second grade, ordered 30 cases of Dum-Dum suckers from Amazon while he was playing on her phone this weekend.
The cases, each with 2,340 suckers inside, retail for $130 each.
The final cost came to over $4,200.
LaFavers says Amazon only let her return eight of the 30 boxes, but she was left with the other 22.
She took to Facebook to ask other locals to buy the boxes from her so she wasn’t stuck with tens of thousands of suckers.
LaFavers said all of the boxes have been sold.
“Thank you everyone who has offered to buy a box (or two) or shared the post,” she wrote on Facebook.
Other Facebook users said they felt LaFavers’ pain, but that the situation was funny.
“Well, as a mom that has experienced unwanted orders, I feel your pain. I assure you, you will laugh about it later - probably while eating a lollipop!” one user wrote.
