KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The largest road win in school history over a ranked team helped the Missouri Tigers vault themselves into the top 15 of the Associated Press’ latest men’s basketball poll.

The Tigers went on the road Saturday to defeat then No. 14 Mississippi State 88-61, moving them to a No. 15 ranking in Monday’s latest poll. Mizzou’s win was the second-largest win over a ranked team in school history and was the Tigers’ fourth win over a top-20 team this season.

That ranking moved Missouri ahead of Kansas, which fell to No. 16 in the rankings following a stunning collapse at Baylor.

Kansas led by as much as 21 in the first half before allowing 60 second-half points to lose to Baylor, 81-70 for their fourth loss in Big 12 play.

Mizzou’s one-spot advantage in the poll has the Tigers ranked ahead of the Jayhawks in the AP poll for the first time since February 2021 when MU spent two weeks ahead of KU.

No. 16 Kansas has a chance to move back up in the rankings as they get set to host No. 8 Iowa State Monday night in Lawrence at 8 p.m. CT.

No. 15 Mizzou plays at No. 4 Tennessee Wednesday night at 6 p.m. CT.
