Sheffield Place makes plans for expansion as need for housing increases
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Sheffield Place in Kansas City has been helping homeless mothers for more than 30 years, but its work is never finished.
In fact, its work is expanding. Currently, 24 families can be housed and receive treatment from Sheffield Place.
“There’s not a lot of treatment options for women, and there aren’t very many that you can bring your kids,” CEO Kelly Welch said.

They opened their doors to women and children in 1991. Today, they have dreams to help even more.
“Last year, we served about 15 percent of the calls we received,” Welch said.
So, they are in the process of expanding. That’s where our first warn five weather team is stepping up. For the month of October, every day that our meteorologists forecast the temperature within three degrees, 50 dollars goes towards Sheffield Place.
Eighty three percent of women who stay at Sheffield Place are able to get back on their feet within 30 days.
