KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Kansas City Royals now have multiple players committed to participating in the World Baseball Classic next March.

On Wednesday, Royals first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino announced that he’ll be playing for Team Italy during the 2026 World Baseball Classic. The Richmond, Virginia, native has Italian roots from his father’s side of the family.

“Buongiorno! Proud to say I will be representing Italy again in the 2026 World Baseball Classic!” Pasquantino shared on X. “Excited for another opportunity to represent my heritage on this stage. Going to be a special group of players suiting up next year! Forza!!!!!”

Pasquantino played for Italy during the 2023 World Baseball Classic, as did former Royals infielder Nicky Lopez.

Pitcher Seth Lugo has already announced that he’ll be playing for Team Puerto Rico. Superstar shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. was on the United States’ roster in 2023 and could be a participant again next year. Catcher Salvador Perez has also previously participated in the event for Team Venezuela.
