INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) – A 4-year-old boy was killed Wednesday when police say a speeding driver ran a red light in Indianapolis.

The child was riding in a bicycle trailer behind a bike being ridden by his father in the crosswalk.

Police say the speeding Dodge Charger also crashed into a vehicle near the Raymond Street and State Avenue intersection.

According to Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Captain Don Weilhammer, the Charger had a “solid red” light.

The boy died at the hospital.

The father and the driver of the vehicle that was struck by the Charger were both hospitalized in critical condition.

Police were searching for the suspect, who fled the scene.
