Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy sues ex-fiancée, alleging abuse and extortion in civil suit
WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas. (KCTV) - Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy has now filed suit against his ex-fiancée alleging she schemed to abuse and extort him.
The civil lawsuit is the latest development in an ongoing feud between Worthy and his ex-fiancée Tia Jones that was made public on March 8 when Worthy was arrested on a third-degree felony assault charge. The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office dismissed all charges later that Saturday after the District Attorney chose not to go forward with the case.
In the lawsuit Worthy filed Monday, March 24, the Chiefs wide receiver alleges Jones “became enraged and engaged in a series of abusive, extortive efforts against (Worthy) and destroyed his game room, including his gaming desk and console, and the key to his Rolls Royce.”
Worthy alleges that destruction, which he said includes Jones “physically assaulting (Worthy) by scratching his face and ripping parts of his hair out,” happened on March 7, a day before he was arrested. It came two weeks after he claims a private investigator he hired caught Jones cheating on him on Feb. 23, 2025.
“After seeing proof of these affairs, which were captured on video... (Worthy) respectfully requested that (Jones) leave the residence multiple times over the course of 12 days,” the lawsuit reads.

While Worthy was in custody, he claims Jones stole or destroyed over $150,000 worth of his property and cash from his home, which the two had been living together in. The lawsuit claims when Worthy was released from custody and returned home he discovered a handgun, $30,000 in cash, three bracelets, a pair of sneakers, keys to a vehicle and a jewelry box all missing.
On March 12, Jones was granted a protective order against Worthy by a Texas judge. That protective order, the lawsuit argues, “push(es) the narrative that men cannot be victims.”
Williamson County, Texas, includes parts of Austin, Texas, where Worthy starred on the University of Texas football team prior to his arrival in Kansas City and where Jones starred on the Longhorns women’s track team.
Included in the lawsuit from Worthy are photos of the game room he alleges Jones destroyed, and photos of Worthy’s dreads and hair which he claims she pulled and scratched.
Worthy’s lawsuit demands monetary relief of between $250,000 and $1 million. Documents obtained by KCTV from Worthy’s attorneys included charges filed in 2020 in Georgia against Jones accusing her of battery.
The Chiefs wideout who will turn 22 in April was selected by Kansas City with the 28th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. He recorded 59 receptions for 638 yards, 104 rushing yards and 9 total touchdowns as a rookie.
In the playoffs, he became Kansas City’s leading receiver, totaling a team-leading 19 receptions for 287 yards and 3 touchdowns in the Chiefs’ three playoff games.
