Report: Chiefs adding familiar face to QB room with signing of Bailey Zappe

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback room has taken shape over the last two days.
A day after the Chiefs reportedly agreed to a one-year deal with former Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Gardner Minshew, Kansas City signed another backup with ties to the organization.
According to a report from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Chiefs signed quarterback Bailey Zappe to a one-year deal.

The 25-year-old rejoins Kansas City after signing to the practice squad in August 2024 and spending half the 2024 season with the Chiefs. In October, the Cleveland Browns claimed Zappe from the Chiefs practice squad.
Zappe has 15 career games in the NFL and has thrown for 2,223 yards, 12 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. He never appeared in a game for the Chiefs but has played in regular season action for the New England Patriots and Cleveland Browns.
Minshew and Zappe will join superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the Chiefs quarterback room. Mahomes reportedly restructured his contract earlier this week to help the Chiefs get cap space to sign free agents.
