KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) - Sporting Kansas City selected a trio of Big Ten soccer players Friday in the 2025 MLS SuperDraft.

The club also received $162,500 in 2025 General Allocation Money from the Colorado Rapids in a draft-day trade that allowed the teams to swap first-round picks. As a result, Sporting KC moved from the fourth selection to the eighth pick in the draft order.

With the eighth overall pick, Sporting KC drafted defender Jansen Miller out of Indiana University.

Miller was a Second-Team All-Big Ten selection in 2024. He helped the Hoosiers become College Cup finalists in 2022, Big Ten tournament champions in 2023 and first place in the Big Ten regular season each of the past two seasons. Miller, a native of St. Louis, Missouri, signed academy contracts in the USL Championship with St. Louis FC in 2019 and 2020.

“I’m very excited to be drafted by Sporting Kansas City,” Miller said. “I know a lot about Kansas City. I’ve grown up watching the team and I know how big and massive of a club it is in MLS. It’s been the standard for the last 15 years so I’m very excited to get to Kansas City and get to work.”

With the 34th overall pick in the second round, Sporting drafted Ohio State defender Anthony Samways and with the 64th overall pick in the third round the organization drafted Leon Koehl from Maryland.

Samways helped lead Ohio State to the 2024 NCAA College Cup semifinals during his senior season with the Buckeyes. He had two goals and 13 assists in 67 appearances.

Koehl was an All-Big Ten First Team selection this season and helped the Terrapins return to the NCAA Tournament.
