KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) - Another highly-anticipated pair of matchups between Sporting KC and MLS MVP Lionel Messi and Inter Miami FC have been set for February 2025.

On Friday, Concacaf announced the dates for Round One of the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup, a tournament Sporting KC qualified for via being a finalist in the 2024 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

The first leg of round one will be played Tuesday, Feb. 18, at Children’s Mercy Park. The second leg will be played a week later, Feb. 25, at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Both matches will kick off at 7 p.m. CT.

Ticket details

Sporting Kansas City said Friday season ticket members seat locations can be secured through the organization’s Right of First Refusal membership benefit, allowing season ticket holders to receive the lowest price available until Monday, Dec. 16. That’s the deadline to opt out of their seats.

Fans who purchase full or half-season ticket packages in the next four weeks will also be guaranteed the opportunity to secure Concacaf Champions Cup tickets at the discounted price, Sporting KC said in its announcement.

Single-game tickets for the Feb. 18 match will go on sale on Wednesday, Jan. 8.

Last April, Sporting KC hosted Messi and his Inter Miami FC squad in a match at Arrowhead Stadium. Inter Miami FC won the match 3-2, in front of a crowd of more than 72,000.

Tournament set-up

The Concacaf Champions Cup features 27 clubs across North America, Central America and the Caribbean.

The winner will be crowned on June 1 following five rounds of play. The first round -- in which Sporting KC and Inter Miami FC will play -- will advance the winner via an aggregate score from the two matches.

Sporting KC most recently reached the semifinal stage of the tournament in 2019 and will face an American club for the first time in the competition.
