Bombs Away! Royals set franchise home run record in Baltimore
BALTIMORE, Md. (KCTV) — The Royals hit seven home runs Sunday afternoon, setting an all-time franchise record.
Six different players contributed to the history-making afternoon at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, led by Maikel Garcia with two.
“I’ve never seen nothing like that before,” Garcia said.
Leadoff hitter Jonathan India logged his first homer of the season in the fifth.
Bobby Witt Jr. hit the go-ahead HR in the seventh, followed immediately by Vinnie Pasquantino’s fifth of the season.
Luke Maile hit his first of the year in the eighth. Second baseman Michael Massey followed up with the history-making home run on an 0-2 count in the ninth.
The game also marked an MLB record for solo home runs hit, with the two teams combining for ten.
The Royals won the game 11-6. They finished their road swing 5-1 and have won 11 of their last 13 games.
