13-year-old dies after hitting braided cable while riding electric bike

EVERETT, Wash. (Gray News) – A 13-year-old in Washington state died from injuries he sustained while riding an electric bike, according to the Everett Police Department.

The police department said the teen was riding the bike Friday evening when he hit a braided cable that was on the ground between a fence post and a traffic bollard.

The teen was seriously hurt and taken to the hospital where he died three days later.

Authorities said the cable has since been removed from the area.
