REPORT: Chiefs sign former 49ers left tackle Jaylon Moore to 2-year deal
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Chiefs have shored up their most glaring need.
After rotating through four offensive linemen to play left tackle in 2024, Kansas City has reached an agreement with former San Francisco 49ers offensive tackle Jaylon Moore.
The deal is projected to be two years for $30 million, with $21.24 million fully guaranteed, according to ESPN NFL reporter Adam Schefter.
Moore, 27, played in 15 games for the 49ers a season ago and was thought to be among the top offensive tackles on the free agent market. A fifth-round pick in 2021, Moore was primarily the backup to All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams in San Francisco.
After Williams suffered a season-ending injury, Moore filled in and started at left tackle for five games.

The Chiefs drafted left tackle Kingsley Suamataia with their second pick of the 2024 NFL Draft and immediately inserted him into the left tackle spot for the season’s opening game. But after a rough outing against the Cincinnati Bengals and defensive end Trey Hendrickson in Week 2, the Chiefs opted for reserve lineman Wanya Morris in Suamataia’s place.
After Morris' turn at left tackle for much of the first half of the season, the Chiefs brought in veteran left tackle D.J. Humphries. That lasted one game after Humphries injured his hamstring, and All-Pro left guard Joe Thuney slid over to left tackle, where he finished out the year.
The Chiefs traded Thuney to the Chicago Bears last week for a 2026 fourth round pick, according to reports.
The Chiefs reportedly signed guard Trey Smith to the franchise tag, and with center Creed Humphrey signing an extension before the start of the 2024 season and Jawaan Taylor being in the fold for at least another season (with an additional year of team control), the Chiefs starting offensive line will all be 27 years or younger.
