Perez exits Royals-Rays series finale with ailment

TAMPA, Fla. (KCTV) - Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez exited Thursday’s series finale with the Tampa Bay Rays due to injury.
The Royals said Perez exited the game with left hip soreness.

The 35-year-old Royals star doubled to center field during a 3-run fifth inning for the Royals, who went on to sweep the Rays in an 8-2 victory. Perez slid into second base on the play and was pinch-hit for prior to his next at-bat as the Royals’ designated hitter.
Perez had a productive series against the Rays prior to his exit. He had a hit in all three games of the series, improving his batting average to .235 this season.
The Royals won the series finale for their ninth win in the past 10 games, improving their record to 17-15 this season.
