KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - One of the bright spots of the Royals bullpen early in the 2025 season is headed to the injured list.

The Kansas City Royals announced Friday that right-handed reliever Hunter Harvey was placed on the 15-day injured list due to a right teres major strain. The move to the IL was made retroactive to April 8.

In six appearances this season, Harvey had a 0.00 ERA, and 7 strikeouts in 5.1 innings pitched. The Royals acquired him in a trade with the Washington Nationals in the middle of last season. Harvey missed time last season due to injuries as well.

In a corresponding move, the Royals have recalled right-handed pitcher Steven Cruz from Triple-A Omaha.

Cruz appeared in five games for the Royals in 2024. He did not allow a run in those appearances, which came between Aug. 29 and Sept. 21.

The Royals begin their 10-game road trip on Friday with a 3-game series with the Cleveland Guardians.
