KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Kansas City Royals offered their condolences to the family of former reliever Octavio Dotel after the 51-year-old died in a roof collapse at a Dominican Republic nightclub.

“We join the baseball community in mourning the passing of Octavio Dotel,” the Royals posted on their social media pages Tuesday. “We send our condolences to Octavio’s family and loved ones.”

The baseball nomad won a World Series with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2011 and played for 14 Major League teams in a career that spanned from 1999 to 2013. His 14 teams was an MLB record until Edwin Jackson broke it in 2019.

In all, Dotel played for the New York Mets, Houston Astros, Oakland Athletics, New York Yankees, Atlanta Braves, Chicago White Sox, Pittsburgh Pirates, Los Angeles Dodgers, Colorado Rockies, Toronto Blue Jays, St. Louis Cardinals and Detroit Tigers, in addition to the aforementioned Royals.
