Sporting KC’s Daniel Salloi to become U.S. citizen

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) - One of the 50 new U.S. citizens officials will welcome during a special naturalization ceremony this weekend is one of Sporting KC’s stars.
Sporting KC forward Daniel Salloi, a native of Hungary, will be naturalized on Saturday in a special ceremony prior to Sporting’s match against Austin FC.
The ceremony will naturalize 50 candidates from 21 countries, including Argentina, Canada, China, Congo, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, India, Iran, Jordan, Kenya, Mexico, Nepal, Nicaragua, Pakistan, Philippines, Spain, United Kingdom, and Yemen.

Salloi was born and raised in Hungary and arrived in the United States in 2014, when he became a foreign exchange student at Blue Valley Northwest High School in Overland Park, Kansas.
During his time as a student at BVNW, Salloi played for Sporting KC Academy and signed for Sporting KC in early 2016.
He made his SKC debut in April 2017 and has since scored 59 goals and tallied 40 assists, the fourth-most goal contributions in franchise history. During his debut season in 2017, Salloi scored the game-winning goal in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Final.
In 2021, Salloi was an MLS All-Star and MLS MVP Finalist.
