Chawinga wins NWSL Player of the Month with goals in every match

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Following an MVP 2024 season, Kansas City Current forward Temwa Chawinga has picked up where she left off, earning NWSL Player of the Month honors for her play in March.
Chawinga scored in all three matches for the Current, helping Kansas City go 3-0-0 and be one of two teams in the NWSL without a loss or draw in the first month of the regular season.
The Player of the Month honor for Chawinga is her fourth of her career. Last season, she became the first player since 2014 to win it three times in a single season.
Last year, Chawinga was the first player in NWSL history to score 20 goals in a season. Her first goal of this season came in the fourth minute of the Current’s first match, a 3-1 win over the Portland Thorns on March 15.
The Current’s next match is Saturday, April 12, against the San Diego Wave at 9 p.m. CT.
