Bay FC defender honored with Lauren Holiday Impact Award
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Bay FC’s Jen Beattie has been honored for her work in the community to bring awareness to the fight against breast cancer as a survivor herself.
On Thursday, Nov. 21, women’s soccer officials began to flood Union Station ahead of the NWSL Championship Weekend in Kansas City.
League leaders gathered in the Board Meeting Room to declare a special announcement. Jen Beattie has been honored with the Lauren Holiday Impact Award.
Bay FC’s Beattie, a breast cancer survivor, uses her free time to advocate for awareness.
The award, presented by Nationwide, honors players of excellence who are involved in the community.
In 2024, the award’s focus shifted to the players and the interests off the pitch. The name was also changed from the Nationwide Community Impact Award to the Lauren Holiday Award.
The announcement was made before players from both the Washington Spirit and Orlando Pride filtered in to address media ahead of their Saturday match.
The Championship match is set to begin at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22. You can watch along on KCTV5.
