KC Current’s run to the NWSL Championship ends with loss to Orlando Pride

ORLANDO (KCTV) - The “Teal Time” clock runs out for the Kansas City Current and the organization’s dream of winning an NWSL Championship in their home stadium.
The Orlando Pride ended the playoff run for the Kansas City Current Sunday afternoon.
Debinha struck first in the match for the Current. Her goal in the 33rd minute allowed the Current to take the lead. Orlando tied it up in the 41st, and the two teams were tied 1-1 at halftime.
Orlando scored a second goal to go up 2-1 during the 53rd.

The Current had several chances to tie the game, including a shot by Michelle Cooper and Temwa Chawinga in the 65th. Both shots were off the mark.
Orlando then added to its lead scoring a third goal in the 82nd.
The Current hoped to ride its wining tide back home to Kansas City and CPKC Stadium for the NWSL Championship Game next week. Instead, those dreams ended in a 3-2 loss. It’s the first match lost by the Current since September.
Orlando also handed the Current its first loss of the season in July.

The Pride will face the Washington Spirit in the NWSL Championship. The game will be played at CPKC Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 7 p.m.
