KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - It’s been a season of success for the Kansas City Current. Sold out crowds, just one loss at home, first playoff win at its new stadium. The list goes on.

And on Tuesday, five members of the KC Current were nominated for awards.

With a league-high 21 goals scored in 26 games played, Temwa Chawinga is a finalist for the NWSL MVP award. Chawinga won the league’s Golden Boot award, with six more goals than any other player in the league.

Kansas City’s midfield attack has been superb in 2024. As a result, midfielders Vanessa Dibernardo and Lo’eau Labonta were each named finalists for Midfielder of the Year.

As one of the youngest players in the NWSL, 18-year-old Claire Hutton is a nominee for the league’s Rookie of the Year award.

And finally, in his first season as the head coach of the Current, Vlatko Andanovski is a nominee for Coach of the Year.

The Current will play the Orlando Pride at 2 p.m. CT on Nov. 17 in the NWSL Semifinals. Kansas City defeated the North Carolina Courage 1-0 in the first home playoff game at CPKC Stadium.
