Kansas City bridge closure could impact Current fans heading to CPKC Stadium
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Fans heading to the KC Current match will likely want to allow some extra time to reach the stadium.
Crews working on the KC Streetcar Extension project closed the Grand Boulevard bridge from 2nd Street to Front Street earlier this month.
Workers are completing necessary work before installing track for the streetcar.
Unfortunately the Grand Boulevard bridge is the one shuttles normally use to take fans from River Market to CPKC Stadium on match days.
Vehicle Detour
Anyone driving in the area is told to travel north from the River Market, turn on Independence Avenue and then take The Paseo north until it connects with northbound Interstate 29. From there, drivers exit on Front Street, just before the Kit Bond Bridge.

Pedestrian/Cyclist Detour
For anyone walking or biking, use the Town of Kansas Bridge, which is just north of 2nd Street on Main Street. It has stairs that will take walkers or bikers down to river level and walking east it will eventually connect with the Berkley Riverfront Park.

There is also an elevator and a runnel on the stairs for cyclists to use. Just place the bike tires on the runnel next to the steps and wheel it up the slant. it means you won’t need to carry your bike up and down the steps.

Work on this part of the project is expected to be completed in about two months.
