KC Current takes first loss against Orlando at CPKC Stadium
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - It was a hard-fought battle, as the Kansas City Current took their first loss of the season.
The pressure was on early from the Kansas City Current as the ladies came to play at CPKC Stadium on Saturday, July 6. The team took the pitch against the Orlando Pride at 6:30 p.m. in front of a roaring crowd.
The Current, who had been undefeated, took on the only other undefeated team in the NWSL. Penalties started early in the game on both teams.
During the game, Debinha became the first Brazilian to reach 10,000 minutes played in the league. She was not the only player to hit a milestone this game either as Hailie Mace joined the 5,000 club.
While Orlando took the first goal, Temwa Chawinga quickly answered with her 12th goal of the season.

On a hot streak, Orlando was stopped by Mace before they could get another chance as Adrianna Franch assisted with the kick save. However, the girls could not come back with a save and lost to the Pride 2-1.
The Current is set to have a month-long break before the team’s next game against the Washington Spirit in Washington, D.C. at 11 a.m. on Aug. 25.
