LAWRENCE, Kan. (KCTV) - The roster overhaul for the Kansas men’s basketball program has begun with Bill Self’s first addition from the transfer portal.

On Friday, On3′s Joe Tipton reported that Loyola Chicago guard Jayden Dawson committed to the Jayhawks. Dawson, a 6-foot-4 guard who averaged 13.9 points per game and shot 36.3% from 3-point range last season, will have one year of eligibility remaining as he joins the Jayhawks.

Dawson also averaged 3.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. He was a 41% shooter from the floor as a junior en route to All-A-10 honors. He scored a career-high 35 points during an NIT game against San Francisco on March 23.

The Omaha, Nebraska, native joins KU following three seasons with the Ramblers. He started in 47 of 72 games with Loyola Chicago, including all 32 games as a junior.

Dawson becomes the first addition from the transfer portal for a Kansas team that has lost all of its potential returning production to the transfer portal. He entered the transfer portal on April 2 and committed to Kansas two days later.
