Blue Springs man sentenced to more than decade in prison for child pornography
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A Blue Springs man was sentenced in federal court Thursday for possessing hundreds of images of child pornography.
Forty-one-year-old Jon Hopkins Jr. was sentenced to 14 years in federal prison without parole.
He pleaded guilty in October 2024 to one count of possessing child pornography. Court documents said it was discovered that he was in possession of a device in a classified area at Honeywell in Kansas City, Missouri, where he was an employee.
When his device was searched, law enforcement found images on his phone. An investigation revealed hundreds of images and videos of child pornography, many of which featured preteen girls, court documents said.
While his federal case has been ongoing, Hopkins still faces felony charges for statutory rape of a child less than 12 years old and attempted sodomy of a child less than 12 years old in Jackson County, Missouri.
