KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) - Five former post office employees have been charged in connection with the theft of packages from those they served in the metro.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Kansas says that on Thursday, May 8, several former USPS Postal Service employees were charged in a federal indictment for mail theft.

Court documents indicated that all five defendants have been charged with a single count each of conspiracy to steal mail and mail theft:

  • Terrence Luster, 49, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri
  • Laura Dantzler, 64, of Kansas City, Kansas
  • Arthur Hook, 49, of Lathrop, Missouri
  • Craig Roland, 54, of Kansas City, Kansas
  • Cheryl Wankum, 60, of Overland Park, Kansas

Investigators noted that all five defendants were employees at the post office on N. 51st St. Between early 2023 and mid-October 2023, they are believed to have stolen Amazon packages, mail and other valuable items for their personal use.

The USPS said it continues to investigate the case as litigation resumes.
