KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A Lee’s Summit couple has been charged after attempting to sell a stolen camera at a pawn shop.

Court records in Jackson County revealed a second-degree burglary charge against 39-year-old Brandon Charles Moody and 39-year-old Heather Moody. The documents say Moody stole a camera from a house, then attempted to sell it at Cash America Pawn Shop on April 29, 2025.

For the entirety of the burglary, the camera was on, court documents say. The camera, valued at an estimated $400, recorded Moody and his wife, Heather, attempting to sell it.

Lee’s Summit Police Department officers said employees identified the suspect as Brandon Moody. Surveillance footage of the suspects led police to identify the female suspect as Heather Moody.

On May 6, police executed a search warrant at Moody’s parents’ home, where he and Heather were living. They located the camera and a stolen solar panel inside the garage of the home.

During an interview with police, Brandon said he’d stolen from the house in which he got the camera on two separate occasions. He told police he was with Heather during the burglaries and said he stole the Reolink camera because she wanted him to.

Both Brandon and Heather were booked into the Jackson County Jail on a $20,000 bond.
