LEAVENWORTH, Kan. (KCTV) - A Kansas City, Kansas, man has been convicted by a jury on charges related to a police pursuit last August.

Court documents in Leavenworth County, Kansas, revealed 32-year-old Brandon S. Alvis was convicted by a jury of three counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and one count of flee or attempt to elude.

The charges were the result of an incident on Aug. 5, 2024, when an officer with the Tonganoxie Police Department attempted to stop a car near State Avenue and Main Street.

The vehicle, driven by Alvis, did not stop and ran a red light before Basehor police saw him driving at a high speed and joined the pursuit.

Twice during the pursuit, Alvis drove head-on toward a police officer’s car.

Court documents said the chase ended when Alvis exited onto 78th Street in Kansas City, Kansas, and struck a median, losing the car’s front left wheel.

Speeds during the chase reached approximately 116 miles per hour.

Sentencing is scheduled for May 6, 2025.
