Kansas City Zoo and Aquarium to open new attraction taking guests to the skies

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A new zipline attraction is coming to the Kansas City Zoo and Aquarium, opening on April 25.

The Flying Flamingo will reach speeds of 30 mph and go 100 feet in the air.

The experience accommodates four guests per ride and stretches from the Sobela Ocean Aquarium to the Elephant Expedition. Riders will have an aerial view of both the zoo and Swope Park.

All flights will require a reservation, which can be made on the day of a visit by visiting guest relations, membership services, World Gate, Africa Market or the Flying Flamingo kiosk.

Premier Friends can enjoy the Flying Flamingo for free, but will need to make a reservation. All other guests tickets cost $8, or can double the fun for two flights costing $15.

Guests must be at least 50 inches tall to ride alone, and those who are 42-49 inches must be accompanied by an adult. If four people are riding, the combined weight cannot exceed 900 pounds or 450 pounds for two people. The maximum weight for one seat is 300 pounds.
