With stadium uncertainty swirling for Chiefs and Royals, local fans share feelings
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - KCTV5 went to locations in both Kansas and Missouri to ask Chiefs and Royals fans Wednesday if they would like to see the teams stay in Missouri or move to Kansas.
“I have lived in Missouri my whole life,” said Sarah Lydon Lorson. “I’m a big fan of the Chiefs and the Royals and now the Current. I live in the River Market, and I love the environment the Current has brought to Kansas City. I think the Royals, Chiefs staying here will definitely keep that hype in Missouri.”
“The Chiefs and the Royals should both stay here because they have been here forever,” said Joan Noe. “We are known as the Kansas City Chiefs on the Missouri side. Not the Kansas side, which all the announcers get wrong. We got to stay in Missouri and be the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas City Royals.”

In downtown Overland Park, most residents would like to see the teams make the move to Kansas.
“I would love the Chiefs to move to Kansas because me and my dad could go to the Chiefs games more often,” said Katherine Stitt. “It’s a lot closer.”
“It’s a hard decision because I love Kansas and Missouri,” said Natalie Yancey. “However, I have a little bit more loyalty to Kansas since I was born and raised here. I think it would bring a lot more liveliness to the Kansas side, too. Kansas City, Missouri, already has so much going for it, so I don’t know, it could just bring more action to the Kansas side.”
“I think it would be a good revenue generator for the cities and overall, especially in KCK or wherever in Kansas they end up deciding to build the stadiums,” said Matthew Tritsch.

Some Kansans had caveats if the teams were to cross the state line.
“I would like to see, if they do move here, that we get a good deal,” said Dan Jones. “Not something where it’s just going to be where our state government pays for it and a bunch of people make money off of it.”
While others said they just want the conversation to be over. At the end of the day, whether they were in Kansas or Missouri, those we spoke to say they would like to see both teams stay in the metro area.
