St. Joseph native to make dream Royal debut with family in attendance
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KCTV) - A St. Joseph, Missouri native can officially call himself a Big Leaguer.
The Royals called Noah Cameron up from Triple-A Omaha to start against the Tampa Bay Rays Wednesday night. The move came as Royals ace Cole Ragans’ turn in the starting rotation was pushed back as he deals with groin tightness.
The team flew the Cameron family out to Tampa to witness the moment in person.
“It’s gonna be the best night of our lives,” Noah’s sister, Courtney, said during a Zoom call with KCTV Wednesday morning.

“I’ve got a 25-foot tape measure at home,” his dad, Tracy, said of his pride for his son. “It’s at least that big.”
Noah started playing baseball at age four.
“He was one of those kids that would find anything round in the house — it didn’t matter if it was an apple, an orange, whatever,” Tracy said. “He’d come walking by my La-Z-Boy recliner while I was watching golf. He wants to play catch. If I would ignore him, that ball would sail right in front of my face.”
Cameron’s family says they always knew he had a special talent.
“He actually used to tell people at that age, that’s what he was going to do.”
Tonight, Noah will trade fruit for fastballs in the Sunshine State.
Even though he’ll make his debut 1,300+ miles from home, he’ll feel the support of his hometown from afar. The St. Joseph School District celebrated ‘Noah Cameron Day’ by encouraging students to wear Royal blue — including those at his alma mater, Central High School.
