Park Hill School District asks voters to support improvements, security, teachers raises
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Northland voters have some important decisions to make when they head to the polls on April 8.
Voters in the Park Hill School District will make a decision that could impact the district’s future for years to come.
The two proposed tax increases will be listed on the ballot as Proposition G and Proposition O.
PROPOSITION G
- YES VOTE
- Increase the operating property tax rate by 10 cents per $100 in assessed value
- Expected to raise about $6 million each year
- District said money would be used to increase teacher salaries
If passed, it would be the first increase in more than 20 years. The last operating tax levy was passed in 2002, according to the Park Hill School District.

PROPOSITION O
- YES VOTE
- Allows Park Hill to raise the debt service levy by 30 cents for every $100 in assessed value to issue bonds
- District would borrow $128 million and use increased property taxes to repay the money
- Money would be used to renovate some buildings and build new ones
Proposition O would include the first phase to replace Park Hill High School, restoring the baseball field and make other stadium improvements. It would also improve the field and stadium at Park Hill South.
It could cover additions to Chinn, Line Creek, and Southeast Elementary Schools and renovate space for other high school programs.
The money would also be used to pay for security improvements throughout the district, if Prop O is approved by voters.
