KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The superintendent of Kansas City Public Schools has been approved for a new three-year contract.

Wednesday night, KCPS announced that Dr. Jennifer Collier was unanimously approved for a new contract by the KCPS Board of Directors. The contract would keep Collier in leadership through the 2027-28 school year.

“The Board has seen steady improvements from KCPS during Dr. Collier’s tenure, resulting in meeting goals and expectations important to the families of Kansas City’s children,” said Rita Cortes, KCPS’ Board Chair. “Dr. Collier and her staff have built on the full accreditation received in January 2022 to make meaningful progress in student literacy, college & career readiness, enrollment growth, and many other key areas.

“The Board respects Dr. Collier’s service and leadership, and looks forward to building on these successes for the benefit of students, teachers, families, staff and our great community.”

In a release from KCPS, Collier said she was “honored to continue to lead such a committed community of students, talented educators and staff.”

Collier has served in KCPS for 25 years. Her contract extension comes just before KCPS facing a bond vote that would help fund facility upgrades across the district.
