TOPEKA, Kan. (KCTV) - On Thursday, former KCKPD Detective Roger Golubski’s motion to dismiss was discussed in court by the judge, defense, and prosecution. Before the hearing, people gathered outside demanding justice.

Golubski is accused of heinous crimes during his time with the KCK Police Department.

He faces two separate federal cases and is accused of rape, kidnapping, and protecting drug dealers who ran a sex trafficking ring involving minors.

He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Before Thursday’s hearing, a little more than 20 people gathered outside the Federal Courthouse in Topeka demanding justice for those allegedly abused and assaulted by Golubski.

The group was led by Team ROC (Roc Nation’s Social Justice Division) and the Midwest Innocence Project.

“I want justice. We matter,” said Michelle Houcks, who accuses Golubski of raping her.

This has been a long fight for many accusers of Golubski.

“He didn’t come back one time to rape me. He came back and back,” said Ophelia Williams, who accuses Golubski of raping her.

Williams said it took her a long time to speak out. She said she told Golubski she was going to call the police.

“He said I am the police and if I said something what he would do it would be a long time before anybody found me,” said Williams.

Many listened in on the hearing, but Golubski was not at the hearing on Thursday as he filed a waiver of appearance.

After a little more than an hour of back and forth between the judge, the defense, and the prosecution, the judge decided to take 30 days to respond to the motion.

“It seems like it is moving in the right direction or it is moving,” said Davilyn Dobbs.

Dobbs said her son Donnell Dobbs was wrongfully convicted of murder in 2009.

She claims he’s behind bars because of Golubski and KCKPD.

“I want the right thing to be done I want us to get justice I want him to receive the punishment that he needs to receive for the actions he has committed to everybody,” said Dobbs.

After the hearing, Golubski’s attorney told KCTV5 he had no further comment on the case.

They head back to court on July 10 for a status conference. The judge mentioned he would like to set a trial date then depending on what happens.

If a trial is set, the defense and prosecution are figuring out how that will work because Golubski is on dialysis.

They mentioned possibly doing it every other day or doing it without a lunch break to accommodate his medical needs.

They are expecting to pull from a larger juror pool if this goes to trial as well.
