KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Veteran Kansas City Royals outfielder Mark Canha is headed to the injured list after exiting Tuesday night’s game due to injury.

Canha, 36, exited the Royals’ 2-1 victory over the Minnesota Twins Tuesday night after crashing into the left field wall attempting to catch a fly ball in the fifth inning. The Royals said he exited the game due to left hip soreness. He was replaced by outfielder Hunter Renfroe.

A day later, Kansas City placed Canha on the 10-day injured list with what the club was calling a left abductor strain. In a corresponding move, the Royals recalled outfielder Drew Waters from Triple-A Omaha.

Canha was acquired by the Royals late in Spring Training in a deal with the Milwaukee Brewers. The veteran outfielder and first baseman was 5-for-14 in the 7 games he’d appeared in thus far this season.

Waters, 26, is hitting .370 for the Omaha Stormchasers with 2 home runs, 7 RBI and 3 stolen bases through seven games for the Triple-A team. He hit for the cycle last week.

Waters played seven games for Kansas City in 2024. He was 3-for-16 in those games.
