CHILLICOTHE, Mo. (KCTV) - A pair of young men from Chillicothe have been charged in connection with a brutal attack that left a witness fearing the victim dead.

Livingston County, Missouri, Circuit Court records filed on Saturday, March 3, indicate that Pablo G. Jones, 19, and Jayce B. Gatson, 18, of Chillicothe, have been charged in connection with a brutal attack.

A probable cause statement filed by the Chillicothe Police Department revealed that around 10 a.m. on Friday, law enforcement officials were called to the area of Jackson and Easton Ave. with reports of a disturbance. When they arrived, they found a witness who reported a man had been beaten unconscious by 2 others.

The witness told investigators they pair had beaten the victim so severely she feared he may have been dead. A traffic stop on a Ford Taurus with a broken taillight, which matched the evidence at the scene, revealed Pablo and his passenger, Gatson, to be the suspects. They were both taken into custody.

Law enforcement officials noted that the victim was able to positively identify both Pablo and Gatson as his attackers. As a result, both have been charged with assault in the first degree. If convicted, they could face up to life in prison.

As of Thursday, May 8, Jones and Gatson remain behind bars with no bond listed. A bond appearance hearing has been set for 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14.
