Arrest made after weapon pointed at children at Kansas City daycare
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A Kansas City man faces several charges after he allegedly pulled a gun on adults and children at a metro area daycare.
Jackson County, Missouri, Circuit Court records filed on Friday, May 2, indicate that Tajre M. Bass-Hill, 26, of Kansas City, has been charged with harassment after what was believed to be a gun was pulled at an area daycare.
A probable cause statement filed by the Kansas City Police Department revealed that just after 4:50 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, emergency crews were called to a local child care facility with reports of a man with a gun.
When first responders arrived, multiple witnesses reported that a man in a pink hoodie pointed a firearm at childcare staff, children and other adults in the area. A canvass found the suspect, later identified as Bass-Hill, in a nearby apartment building.
Law enforcement officials said that instead of surrendering peacefully, Bass-Hill attempted to run. He was taken into custody a short time later. During his arrest, he muttered that the gun had been a fake.
As a result, Bass-Hill has been charged with two counts of harassment and a single count of resisting arrest. As of Wednesday, May 7, Bass-Hill remains behind bars with no bond listed.
A bond review hearing has been scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13, with a preliminary hearing expected at 1 p.m. on June 2.
