Former K-State QB Will Howard selected by Steelers in 2025 NFL Draft
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Former Kansas State quarterback Will Howard has a start in his professional career.
Howard was selected 185th overall by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2025 NFL Draft.
His selection came after a year at Ohio State in which Howard quarterbacked the Buckeyes to a national championship.
A distinguished winner in college, Howard played in 34 games for K-State over a four-year span prior to his final year at Ohio State. In 2022, Howard took over for an injured Adrian Martinez and led the Wildcats to a Big 12 Championship win over TCU and an appearance in the Sugar Bowl.

In 50 career games, Howard threw for 9,796 yards, 83 touchdowns and 35 interceptions. At K-State, Howard finished his career with the school’s career record for touchdown passes.
The Downingtown, Pennsylvania, native measured in at 6-foot-4, 236 pounds at the NFL Draft Combine in February. He was a second-team All-Big 12 selection for K-State in 2023 and was a third-team All-Big Ten selection during his lone year in Columbus.
He joins a long list of quarterbacks coached by K-State head coach Chris Klieman who have reached the NFL. Klieman coached several quarterbacks who reached the NFL from North Dakota State -- including Trey Lance, Carson Wentz and Easton Stick -- and K-State, with Skylar Thompson, Adrian Martinez and now Howard reaching the next level.
